Mourjano – Three Weeks In

I did not want to bore you so often about how the weight loss is going with Mourjano weight-loss injections. So I have left it a couple of weeks to post an update and see how things are going because frankly I did not want it to fail and embarrass me just as much as I did not want to keep telling you how great it was and make it sound fake.

The thing is though, I am half way through my fourth week of injecting Mourjano and I am seeing the kind of kick start that I was hopeful I would see. I won’t embarrass you with half-naked pictures of me in front of a gym mirror but it has been amazing how little I have wanted sweet things and more.

Some Basic Numbers

So let’s do a very quick run through of where I am, partly because you will want numbers and partly as a voyage of being held accountable. Against better reasoning, I already weigh myself almost every day because it is my accountability strategy and so let’s start with a graph:

A graph showing my weight loss between 15 June 2024 and 14 July 2024

So I had my first Mourjano interjection on Friday 21st June, so take a look at the 22nd where I claim my starting weight go 145.7kg and I felt fat. I genuinely did.

On the day of my fourth injection of 2.5mg tirzepatide I was 139.1kg and two days later (as I type this) I am 138.6kg. So I have lost a total of 7.1kg.

TLDR; SW:145.7 CW: 138.6 Loss so far: 4.8%

Now – I know that a lot of that starting weight loss is “water weight” and that I should not be complacent. That is why I have not stopped Numan, my Mourjano supplier from moving to the 5mg dose for my second month.

Working with Mourjano

So I actually work in an industry where we take safety really seriously. Every medical condition needs to be declared and every pill we pop that is stronger than paracetamol approved before we start our day.

Technically; my employer insisted on 72 hours where I undertook no safety related work. We call it ‘safety-critical’ and basically restricts me to doing office based work. I waited until I had three days off together and that was my 72 hours but I should not have worried too much because I had very few issues and none that would have stopped me going to work.

As I move on to the 5mg dose, my employer has relaxed that restriction to 24 hours. Thankfully I can take the injection at any time on Friday, so I will do it after work as I have another day off on Saturday.

The Noise Has Gone

So let’s get into the core of what you are probably here for.

I have said about the fact that I have not had any negative side effects to the Mourjano, but the positive aspects have been frankly amazing. I did not realise just how much the head controls the stomach, or certainly in my case, until I had that first injection.

I completely admit that I was a stupidly frequent snacker. We have a couple of shelves in a cupboard that are dedicated to the children’s snacks and don’t hate me; but there are biscuits, chocolate, individual cakes and more in the cupboard. I could easily buy a 7 or 14 pack of McVities Chocolate Penguins and over a few days eat them all. I would happily go through a pack of custard cream biscuits.

Not any more

It was like the injection flipped a switch and I simply stopped eating. That is not to say that I have stopped all set things as I have allowed myself some slack over the first month and I expected to, but I also did not believe all of the research and testimonies about how quick it happened. The food noise of constantly picking at the biscuit bin or the cupboard has gone.

Okay, so I have over the course of the month had 3 chocolate magnum ice creams. We had a few days of hot weather and I did not even have these ice creams on consecutive days.

Also at work, where I am always out and about, I have had a horrible appetite for lunch and would often be found in McDonalds having a variety of burgers or in a supermarket grabbing a sandwich, bar of chocolate and drink because it was the meal deal. That is a massive amount of the weight that I have put on over the years. I have not had any hot fast food or chocolate while out and about and although my food choices have not been perfect I have moved from sandwiches and wraps to pesto and pine nut pasta.

Four weeks ago I would not have even entertained eating small pots of pasta on a regular basis. Now though, I have also been eating things like bags of sugar snap peas and things.

Everything seems incredibly positive

I am back to the gym tomorrow, or certainly that is the plan. I use a 24 hour gym because I hate when it is too busy and so I go in the early hours of the morning.

I hope though that this continues. Starting on the 5mg dose this week will be the next step!
